INDIANAPOLIS — The Lawrence Police Department is investigating after a 5-year-old was shot in the wrist on the northeast side of Indianapolis Friday afternoon.
According to police, shortly before 3 p.m. on Dec. 15, officers intercepted a caretaker transporting a child to the hospital with a gunshot wound. Police said the incident happened in the 11600 block of Glenn Abbey Lane, near East 56th Street and North County Line Road.
Police said the child did not sustain any life-threatening injuries and is currently in stable condition.
Lawrence police chief Gary Woodruff told 13News that police are currently working to obtain a search warrant to find out more information.
Police said there is no threat to the area, and the investigation is ongoing.
