Lawrence County homicide suspect barricades himself inside car before arrest

LAWRENCE COUNTY, INDIANA, Ind. — A man wanted in a Lawrence County homicide investigation was arrested Saturday after barricading himself in a vehicle, which led to a SWAT response.

According to Indiana State Police, on Feb. 24, ISP received a call from Lawrence County dispatchers about a man who was wanted in a homicide investigation. Multiple agencies were dispatched to help with the search.

Shortly after 12:30 p.m., an officer with the Paoli Police Department saw the suspect pull into a Paoli gas station. 

When asked by the officer to step out of his vehicle, the man allegedly refused and then barricaded himself inside. Other agencies, including SWAT officers, responded to assist with negotiations. 

After several hours, the suspect was eventually taken into custody. 

The Lawrence County Sheriff's Office is asking anyone with information about the homicide to contact Sheriff Greg Day. The Lawrence County Sheriff's Office said the suspect will be identified at a later time. 

Lawrence County is roughly 75 miles south of downtown Indianapolis.
