KOKOMO, Ind. — Kokomo police are asking for the public's help in identifying the driver of a car that was seen on surveillance video near a homicide scene.
Officers responded to a report of a crash shortly after 3 p.m. May 5 near East Richmond and North Ohio streets.
Police arrived and found a car pinned underneath a parked semi-trailer. According to police, two people inside the car were able to get out safely. However, they told police that the driver was trapped inside the car and had been shot.
Kokomo firefighters responded to the scene and pulled the driver from the car.
Medics transported the driver to Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Kokomo, where he was pronounced dead.
The Howard County Coroner's Office identified the victim as 21-year-old Marshon Burch, of Kokomo.
According to police, both people who were in the car with Burch said they didn't know anything about the shooting or why it happened.
Upon further investigation, surveillance video showed a newer model white Chevrolet Blazer in the area at the time of the incident. The vehicle has black trim and wheels, tinted windows, and a sticker on the lower driver's side portion of the back window.
Police said Thursday afternoon they have located the vehicle.
At this time, police said they don't know if the vehicle or person driving the vehicle was involved in the incident, but investigators are asking for help identifying the driver of the Chevrolet Blazer to speak with them.
