Kokomo police looking for shooter after man was critically wounded

The victim refused to tell officers what led to the shooting, but police found 22 shell casings at the scene.

KOKOMO, Ind. — Kokomo Police are looking for the shooter in a Thursday night incident that sent a man to an Indianapolis hospital in critical condition.

Officers were called just before 9 p.m. to the intersection of Monroe and Locke streets to investigate a shooting. Dispatchers told the officers a light-colored Dodge Charger was possibly involved.  

The victim went to Community Howard Hospital. Police say the 38-year-old man had a gunshot wound to his left side and refused to cooperate with the police. He was later flown to St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis for treatment and was listed in critical but stable condition Friday morning.

Police have not identified him.

Investigators found 22 shell casings at the shooting scene.
