KOKOMO, Ind. (WTHR) – Felony drug charges were filed Wednesday against a Kokomo police officer.
Ofc. Heath Evans offered to pick up a prescription of Fentanyl patches for a woman in Kokomo, according to according to the Howard County prosecutor. But court documents show he gave one box of the prescription to the woman - and kept a second box for himself.
Prosecutors say Ofc. Evans then tested positive for Fentanyl.
He faces one count of obtaining a controlled substance by fraud or deceit; one felony count of possession of a narcotic drug; and a misdemeanor theft charge. Bond was set for $10,000.
Ofc. Evans is due in court next Thursday, March 16. He is currently on administrative leave without pay.
