Indiana man wanted for kidnapping arrested in western Kentucky

Police say the man hid in a cornfield before officers apprehended him.

FRANKLIN, Kentucky — An Indiana man wanted for kidnapping was apprehended by officers Tuesday morning in western Kentucky.

At about 9 a.m., Kentucky State Police received information that Cody Medsker, 28, of New Castle, Ind., was driving south on I-65 in a 2016 red Chevrolet Silverado in Franklin, Ky, according to a KSP news release.

Officers spotted Medsker in the One 9 Fueling Station. Authorities say he exited the station through the rear and fled to a nearby cornfield where he hid from police until KSP K-9 units and aircraft assets responded to the scene.

Medsker was taken into custody and charged with the following:

  • Wanton endangerment of a police officer
  • Fleeing/Evading
  • Resisting arrest 
  • Indecent exposure 

Medsker is currently wanted in Indiana for criminal confinement with bodily injury, burglary, two counts of rape and two counts of child molestation. Medsker was taken to the Simpson County Jail.
