INDIANAPOLIS — Indianapolis police have arrested a man on a preliminary charge of murder, for a deadly shooting inside a plasma center on the east side of Indianapolis.
28-year-old Joshua Jones was shot and killed on Oct. 29, inside the plasma center in the 3600 block of North Post Road, near 36th street.
Police say the man who killed Jones called them from his home and said "I got my gun that I shot the victim with" next to him on the couch.
According to court records, the man said he wanted to tell the police that he shot someone and why, so there would not be any confusion.
Police say surveillance video shows the suspect walking into the business wearing the same clothes he was in when he was arrested. In the video, the suspect walks into the treatment area of the plasma center and draws a handgun.
Police say the suspect stands in front of Jones and appears to speak with him briefly before pointing the gun and opening fire.
According to court documents, the suspect shot Jones within 10 seconds of walking into the treatment area. Jones attempted to move out of the way of the gun, but was shot multiple times.
The suspect told police that Jones was dating the mother of the suspect's daughters. He said Jones had threatened to kill the daughters on Facebook. The suspect also accused Jones of domestic violence.
The suspect said he was going to pick up McDonalds when he saw the suspect heading to the plasma center. He told police seeing Jones felt like "divine intervention."
The suspect said after he shot Jones, he went home and called his girlfriend so she would be home when his children were dropped off by the school bus.
