HENRY COUNTY, Ind. — A 30-year-old man from Indianapolis was arrested after leading police on a car chase that ended in a crash  — all while having a minor with them.

Indiana State Police said a trooper initiated a traffic stop on a Chevrolet passenger car for speeding on Interstate 70 on Sunday, Oct. 13 at 8 a.m.

Authorities said the vehicle didn't stop and fled southbound on State Road 3. The pursuit continued as the vehicle turned eastbound onto U.S. 40 and then onto County Road 225 East. ISP said the vehicle then ran through a stop sign and crashed into a ditch on County Road 700 South.

Troopers took the 30-year-old driver into custody at the scene.

A juvenile male was a passenger in the vehicle. He received minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital.

The driver was arrested on preliminary charges of neglect of a dependent, resisting law enforcement, criminal recklessness, possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia.

(NOTE: 13News has a policy to not name suspects until formal charges are filed by prosecutors.)

The Henry County Sheriff's Department and the Indiana Department of Child Services helped ISP in this investigation.
