INDIANAPOLIS — Indiana State Police is investigating two separate shootings that occurred on Interstate 70 Thursday evening.
According to a press release from ISP, around 8:15 p.m. on Feb. 8, ISP troopers were called to Keystone Avenue, near I-70, after receiving a 911 call about a man who had been shot by another driver.
Officers arrived and the man was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound.
ISP detectives say a preliminary investigation revealed a driver of a blue sedan allegedly fired at least one shot out of the passenger side window at the victim. The victim was driving a white Nissan at the time. The bullet went through the driver's side door and struck the victim.
According to police, both vehicles had just entered I-70 westbound from the Shadeland Avenue exit. Investigators are looking at surveillance video to identify the suspect's vehicle.
ISP says the incident was the second road rage-related shooting of the day on an Indianapolis interstate.
Earlier, around 4:30 p.m., ISP troopers were informed about a driver of a white van shooting at another car on I-70 eastbound, near the Shadeland Avenue exit. ISP did not release further details about the second shooting incident.
