INDIANAPOLIS — Two people are in custody in connection with a shooting incident on Interstate 65 on the south side of Indianapolis, police said Friday.
According to Indiana State Police, officers in Seymour received the initial report March 17 from a man who said he was wounded in an incident on I-65 near County Line Road. Officers found damage to the man's car "consistent with several gunshots."
The victim received treatment at an area hospital.
During an investigation, police learned the incident may have been preceded by a verbal altercation at an Indianapolis business, and they believe the suspects followed the man as he drove south on the highway.
According to a press release from ISP, when the man got into the area of County Line Road, "it is believed occupants of the suspect vehicle pulled along side of him and opened fire, striking the vehicle multiple times and the driver at least once."
No one else was inside the victim's car.
ISP said Indianapolis police assisted in locating the vehicle alleged to have been involved in the incident. Further investigation led investigators to two suspects who were taken into custody earlier this week. The men face preliminary charges of attempted murder and criminal recklessness.
