INDIANAPOLIS — A judge sentenced two men to a combined 44 years in prison after 10 armed robberies of Indianapolis businesses in just one month.

Adam Reed, 25, was sentenced to 29 years in prison for robbing all 10 Indy stores at gunpoint and must pay $7,5850.29 in restitution.

William Dodd, 23, has also been sentenced to 15 years prison for robbing three of the same Indianapolis stores at gunpoint and must pay $2,429.29 in restitution.

According to court documents, on Aug. 17, 2020, the two robbed the El Rey Del Taco on North High School Road and took turns pointing a handgun at employees while demanding cash from the register and some workers. Just two days later, Reed and Dodd robbed the Dollar General on North Arlington Avenue and pointed a gun at employees and demanded money for the register and safe.

Reed then robbed seven other stores on his own. In September, he robbed a T-Mobile store, fired four shots at the front door and held a store manager at gunpoint, using her as a human shield.

“For a month, these criminals terrorized innocent employees and customers across Indianapolis, holding their victims at gunpoint as they wondered if they’d ever see their loved ones again,” Zachary A. Myers, U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Indiana, said in a statement. “No one should fear for their lives simply because they went shopping or to work. The serious federal prison sentences imposed here demonstrate that IMPD, the FBI, and our federal prosecutors are committed to protecting our communities from gun violence and holding armed criminals accountable.”

The FBI and IMPD investigated the case.

The judge also ordered that both men must be supervised by the U.S. Probation Office for three years following their release from prison.
