MORGAN COUNTY, Ind. — An Indianapolis man was arrested after fleeing from a traffic stop and leading police on a high-speed car chase in Morgan County Tuesday afternoon.

Indiana State Police said a trooper initiated a traffic stop for a violation on a 2003 white Ford F350 wrecker on SR67 between Martinsville and Mooresville.

ISP said the trooper soon discovered that the driver, a 38-year-old man from Indianapolis, was unlicensed.

As the trooper was walking back to his police vehicle, the suspect drove away. Police said the wrecker went northbound on SR67, going 90 miles per hour. During the pursuit, the suspect allegedly tried to slow down and hit the trooper's vehicle.

The Mooresville Police Department deployed stopsticks, and the suspect's vehicle hit the stopsticks at two locations but continued driving.

(NOTE: 13News does not name suspects in cases until formal charges are filed by prosecutors.)

Police said the wrecker passed the Bridge Street and SR67 intersection and went off the right side of the road, almost hitting the Blueberry Hill Pancake House building.

The suspect didn't stop and tried to drive back onto SR67, but ended up stopping in the grass in front of a UPS store.

Before the suspect's arrest, ISP said he "complained he was suffering from a medical incident." The Brown Township EMS responded to the scene and examined him.

The suspect was then arrested and taken to the Morgan County Jail, where his custody was transferred.

The suspect is facing preliminary charges for resisting law enforcement, false identity statement and operating a vehicle while never received a license. Police said additional charges may follow.
