MARION, Ind. — Police in Marion are investigating after an Indianapolis woman was injured in a shooting Sunday morning.
Shortly before 11:30 a.m. Feb. 11, Marion Police Department officers responding to a report of shots fired in the 200 block of South Western Avenue, near South Baldwin and West Delphi avenues, located spent cartridge casings in a front yard in the area.
Around the same time, officers were informed of a gunshot victim at Marion Health hospital. An 18-year-old Indianapolis woman was found there with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to her leg.
The victim told police she went with friends to confront a female she had been arguing with when that female came out and fired shots into the air. The victim said she heard two more shots before returning to her car and realizing she'd been shot.
The Indianapolis woman drove to the hospital, was treated and later released.
Police obtained a handgun while executing a search warrant but have not made any arrests, the department said.
