INDIANAPOLIS — A judge sentenced an Indianapolis man to 45 years in prison after he accepting a plea deal for his role in a deadly shooting on the city's east side in 2022.
Ernesto Gillot accepted took a plea deal on one count of murder and two counts of attempted murder for a shooting.
Around 7 p.m. on June 12, 2022, IMPD officers responded to a report of a person shot in the 3700 block of North Mitthoefer Road, which is just south of 38th Street.
When officers arrived, they located a man in his early 30s who had been shot. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition and later died.
The Marion County Coroner's Office identified the deceased as 34-year-old Emmanuel Terveus.
Investigators said Terveus and two other people were in a car in a supermarket's parking lot when the shooting happened. The other two people suffered minor injuries from shrapnel and glass, police said.
The following morning, police announced the arrest of Gillot.
Investigators believe an argument happened before the shooting.
