INDIANAPOLIS — An Indianapolis man has been sentenced for injuring an employee at an Indianapolis gas station during a 2022 robbery.
According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, 21-year-old George Tracy was sentenced to more than 13 years in federal prison followed by three years of supervised release.
Tracy pleaded guilty to a charge of discharging a firearm during a crime of violence.
Investigators say he robbed a Mobil gas station on Central Avenue in November 2022.
The robbery and shooting was captured on the store's surveillance cameras.
“Our hearts go out to the victim of this senseless shooting, who will carry the scars and trauma from this vicious crime for the rest of their life,” said Zachary A. Myers, U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Indiana. “Armed, violent criminals like this man rob the entire community of our sense of safety and security in our workplaces. The serious federal prison sentence imposed here demonstrates that these crimes will not be tolerated by federal law enforcement."
