INDIANAPOLIS — A jury found an Indianapolis man guilty of murder Wednesday for his role in the shooting death of a man two years ago.
David Ice was convicted for the murder of Darryl Ransom on North Dearborn Street on June 3, 2022. Ransom's son told investigators he heard his father talking with someone, who he later saw to be a man wearing a gray sweatshirt and sweatpants. After going back upstairs, the son heard the men began to argue, then heard several gunshots.
Witnesses at the scene identified Ice as the shooter. One woman said she was waiting around the corner for Ice, who she said was wearing a gray sweatsuit.
Police said Ice's GPS monitor showed he was near North Dearborn Street at the time of the murder. He was taken into custody about five hours later.
“Simple disputes leading to homicides continue to be the most alarming trend we see in our community,” Marion County Prosecutor Ryan Mears said in a release. “This kind of senseless gun violence is unacceptable, and we will continue to advocate on behalf of victims and for the safety of our residents.”
Online court records show Ice will be back in court Nov. 25, where a judge will decide on enhancements for a firearm and being a habitual offender.
