Indy man charged in Whitestown man's overdose death

Lonnie L. Haskins Jr. has been charged with dealing in controlled substance resulting in death. His initial hearing date has not yet been set.

WHITESTOWN, Ind. — The Whitestown Metropolitan Police Department has arrested a man in connection with the June overdose death of a 38-year-old Whitestown man. 

Lonnie L. Haskins, 26, of Indianapolis, was arrested Nov. 2. He is charged with dealing in a controlled substance resulting in death in the June 16 death of Jeremiah McClaine.

According to a release by WMPD, the department's Criminals Investigations Division was able find an initial suspect after identifying a man who appeared to have completed a drug deal with McClaine the night of his death. 

The investigation also revealed the suspect was allegedly actively selling counterfeit prescription pills made with fentanyl. Following multiple interviews and executions of multiple search warrants, police were able to positively identify Haskins as the primary suspect. 

Haskins' initial court date has not yet been set.
