59-year-old man arrested for pointing gun during I-465 road rage incident

A 59-year-old man was arrested and faces preliminary charges for intimidation with a deadly weapon, unlawful possession of a firearm and pointing a firearm.

INDIANAPOLIS — Indiana State Police arrested an Indianapolis man for allegedly pointing a gun at another person during a road rage incident Tuesday morning. 

ISP dispatchers said they received a call around 11 a.m. Sept. 10 reporting an incident on Interstate 465, near East Street on the city's south side, that involved someone pointing a gun at someone else.

Police said troopers responded to the last known location of the suspect vehicle and found it in Franklin, Indiana. 

During the course of the investigation, detectives found a Taurus revolver inside the suspect's vehicle.

Since Jan. 1 2024, ISP said they have investigated 53 shootings on Indy-area interstates and an additional 213 incidents of road rage that involve someone pointing or displaying a gun but not firing shots.
