BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — An Indiana University student has been charged with two counts of rape for an alleged sexual assault in Bloomington.
Gregory Gabler, 18, of Lake Worth, Florida, was charged Wednesday, Sept. 11 in Monroe County Court in connection with the incident that allegedly occurred after the IU football game on Friday, Sept. 6.
The victim said Gabler sexually assaulted her while saying, "you're never leaving me."
The victim reportedly waited until Gabler was asleep to leave his room and return to her dorm room. Court documents say the victim left Gabler's room around 3 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 7. The victim's roommate told police that the victim woke her up by shaking her and telling her that Gabler had raped her. She was reportedly covered in bite marks and bruises.
Photos taken by police show the victim had several bruises on her face, neck, chest and arm, as well as circular bite marks.
Gabler was located by IUPD on Sept. 10 while he was attending one of his classes. Court documents say he allegedly refused to answer questions and was later booked into the Monroe County Jail.
Online court records show Gabler's initial hearing is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 12 at 1 p.m.
