ISP arrests South Dakota woman for OWI after I-65 police chase near Lafayette

Dawn Goodroad, 38, faces felony charges of resisting law enforcement with a vehicle and operating a vehicle while intoxicated while having a prior conviction.

TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. — A South Dakota woman is facing felony charges after allegedly leading Indiana State Police on a pursuit on Interstate 65 in Tippecanoe County Friday night.

Just after 11:30 p.m. on April 19, another driver reported the woman recklessly driving on State Road 26 traveling eastbound toward Lafayette, according to ISP.

An ISP trooper found a 2015 GMC Yukon that matched the description given by the caller and attempted to pull the car over after seeing a traffic violation, but the car instead fled, later merging onto northbound I-65.

Tippecanoe County sheriff's deputies joined the pursuit, but the GMC eventually came to a stop a few miles north of the State Road 25 exit

The driver, identified as a 38-year-old Dawn Goodroad, from South Dakota, was taken into custody. According to a preliminary investigation, police believe Goodroad was under the influence at the time of her arrest.

Goodroad was transported to the Tippecanoe County Jail, where she faces felony charges of resisting law enforcement with a vehicle and operating a vehicle while intoxicated while having a prior conviction. She also faces a misdemeanor charge of operating while intoxicated.
