EVANSVILLE, Ind. — A 40-year-old Evansville man is in police custody after allegedly riding a motorcycle at over 100 mph while intoxicated Sunday morning.
According to a release from Indiana State Police, around 8:50 a.m. on Oct. 6, an ISP trooper was patrolling Interstate 69 north of the Lloyd Expressway in Vanderburgh County when a motorcycle traveling northbound flew by the trooper at approximately 106 mph.
The trooper reportedly saw the motorcycle weaving in and out of traffic. When the motorcyclist looked behind him, he allegedly slowed down to a speed of 60 mph, but did not pull over and stop for the trooper for two more miles.
According to ISP, the motorcyclist was argumentative and did not follow police commands. Another trooper arrived at the scene and placed the man under arrest. As police talked with the man, they allegedly were able to smell an alcoholic beverage. The man was also found with a THC vape pen.
Police say the man was transported to the Vanderburgh County Jail and is being held on the following charges: resisting law enforcement with a vehicle, reckless driving, operating while intoxicated and possession of marijuana.
