LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A multi-county high-speed chase has led to the arrest of three men in southern Indiana.
Indiana State Police said it began Friday around 5:30 p.m. when a trooper tried to stop a 2019 Chevy Silverado for speed. The trooper clocked the vehicle doing 87 mph in a 70-mph zone on I-65 South near the 14-mile marker.
The driver, identified as 35-year-old Thomas Vinson, pulled to the side of the road. When the trooper began walking toward the truck, Vinson sped off.
The ISP trooper began chasing the vehicle as the Chevy exited the interstate at the Sellersburg exit and then quickly re-entered on the northbound side.
Police said the pursuit continued north with speeds up to 100 mph.
Other law enforcement agencies assisted with attempts to stop the vehicle with tire deflation devices, but the driver managed to allude them on several occasions.
While this happened, police noticed the Vinson and front seat passenger throwing “an unknown substance” outside of the windows as the truck headed north. ISP also confirmed the dealer plates that were on the vehicle were stolen.
The pursuit travelled through Scott and Jackson Counties on I-65 when police said the driver crossed the media and began driving northbound about five miles south of Columbus, Indiana. Vinson exited the interstate and struck a car entering on the southbound on-ramp.
The car, police said, had minor damage and no one was injured.
Vinson went back onto I-65 North and continued to flee.
Vinson, 29-year-old Cedrick Gleaves and 23-year-old Carl Fulmore were eventually stopped near the 82-mile marker.
They were all taken into custody without incident.
ISP later confirmed the Silverado had been reported stolen from Westfield, Indiana in May.
Vinson, who had multiple warrants out of Marion County, is facing numerous charges including resisting arrest, vehicle theft, criminal recklessness and possession of marijuana.
Gleaves and Fulmore are both charged with marijuana possession.
All three have been booked at the Clark County Jail awaiting arraignment.
