BUNKER HILL, Ind. — An Indiana Department of Correction officer is recovering following an incident with an inmate Saturday afternoon.
According to a spokesperson for the Indiana DOC, the incident happened around 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 6 at the Miami Correctional Facility in Bunker Hill. Little details were shared, but the officer was reportedly taken to a hospital in Fort Wayne, where they were seen and released.
In a Facebook post dated July 7 at 8:15 a.m., the Miami Correctional Facility and Annex was placed on lockdown, and all volunteer and visitation activities have been suspended until further notice.
The IDOC spokesperson confirmed to 13News that the incident is currently under investigation.
