INDIANAPOLIS — IMPD announced the arrest of a third teenager for their alleged role in the 2023 deadly shooting of a 15-year-old on Indianapolis' west side.
Brenden Dixson, 19, was formally charged with murder Feb. 14 in the death of Jeremiah Lewis. IMPD said Dixson was taken into custody without incident Feb. 20 near East Washington and South Rural streets.
Shortly before 10 a.m. June 18, 2023, officers responded to the 2000 block of Lohr Drive, near West 21st Street and North Girls School Road, for a report of a person shot.
Officers located Lewis inside a car with gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
At the time of the incident, police told 13News it appeared Lewis was in the car at Lohr Drive and Lohr Way when he was shot and then drove a short distance before the car hit a mailbox, struck a car in a driveway and came to a stop.
IMPD credited cooperation from the public in identifying two suspects following the shooting: a 14-year-old arrested in 2023 and 19-year-old Wardell Wright, who was arrested and charged with murder in June 2023.
