INDIANAPOLIS — Indianapolis Metropolitan Police have arrested four teens following an investigation earlier this month.
According to a social media post from IMPD, on March 12, detectives with the Indiana Crime Guns Task Force (ICGTF) conducted a search warrant at a home in the 3300 block of East New York Street. During the search, police detained five juveniles and discovered a 9mm handgun that had been reported stolen out of Gary, an AR-15 that was reported stolen from an Indianapolis gun store on March 9, as well as cocaine and marijuana.
Not long after the search warrant was executed, detectives detained a 14-year-old in the 800 block of North LaSalle Street after probable cause showed they may have been in possession of a firearm.
Following a pat-down, detectives found a handgun in the waistband of the 14-year-old. They were taken into custody on charges of dangerous possession of a firearm with a prior for the same offense.
Officers also arrested two 15-year-olds and a 17-year-old for "various firearms and narcotics offenses." IMPD says two other juveniles that were initially detained during the search were released.
