IMPD arrests second teenager in connection with deadly June shooting on Indy's west side

The shooting was reported just after 1 a.m. Saturday, June 8 in the 3800 block of West Michigan Street, near Holt Road.

INDIANAPOLIS — IMPD arrested a second teenager in connection to a deadly shooting on Indianapolis' west side in early June.

The shooting was reported just after 1 a.m. Saturday, June 8 in the 3800 block of West Michigan Street, near Holt Road, at the Maple Creek Apartments.

At the scene, officers located a man, later identified as 21-year-old Kiyon Davidson, on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to IMPD, there was some type of disturbance involving multiple people that took place in the parking lot of the apartments leading up to the shooting.

IMPD was able to identify two persons of interest in this case.  Detectives worked with the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office, and on Wednesday, June 12, prosecutors filed a murder and armed robbery warrant for 19-year-old Dewan Jackson and a murder warrant for 19-year-old Kyis Glaspar. 

IMPD said Violent Crime Unit detectives tracked Glaspar to a home in Gary, Indiana, a few days after the shooting. He was taken into custody without incident in Gary on June 13. 

On Thursday, July 18, IMPD Violent Crime Unit detectives found Jackson in the 3800 block of East New York Street. With assistance from IMPD SWAT, police said Jackson was taken into custody without incident. At the time of his arrest, authorities said he was in possession of a firearm. 

Jackson and Glaspar both face charges for robbery resulting in serious bodily injury and two counts each of murder.
