2 killed, 5 more injured in Indianapolis shootings on Christmas Eve

INDIANAPOLIS — IMPD is investigating multiple shootings that happened across the city on Christmas Eve.

In total, two people were killed and five more were injured.

"As we gather with our families on this holiday, we're asking our community to try to resolve conflicts, disputes and disturbances without resulting to violence," IMPD Ofc. Samone Burris said. "If you need assistance with resolving anything, we're asking you to contact police before taking matters into your own hands."

Person shot arrives at near north side hospital

Police responded to a report of a person with a gunshot wound who went to IU Health Methodist Hospital, located at 250 W. 16th St., near North Capitol Avenue, around 11:30 p.m.

According to IMPD, the victim's condition is stable.

IMPD has not released information on where the shooting took place, a possible suspect or motive at this time.

Downtown shooting

Police responded to a report of a person shot near East 10th Street and Central Avenue around 9:30 p.m.

Officers arrived and learned the victim had been taken to a hospital. According to IMPD, the victim's condition is stable.

IMPD has not released information about a possible suspect or motive at this time.

East side shooting

Police responded to a report of a person shot in the 2000 block of North Bosart Avenue, near East 21st Street and Emerson Avenue, around 9 p.m.

Officers arrived and found 28-year-old Travon Anthony Williams who had been shot inside a home. Medics took him to a hospital in critical condition, but he died from his injuries shortly after arriving to the hospital.

Approximately five minutes later, officers responded to a report of a person shot at the intersection of East 20th Street and North Drexel Avenue — one block from where the first man was found shot in in the home.

Officers arrived and found a second man who had been shot. Medics took him to a hospital in serious condition, according to IMPD.

Police believe "a disturbance of some sort" happened before both men were shot. Investigators said this was an isolated incident, and there is no known threat to the public.

Person arrives at northeast Indianapolis fire station with gunshot wound

Police responded to a report of a person with a gunshot wound who went to Indianapolis Fire Department Station 2, near 42nd Street and North Mitthoefer Road, around 4:30 p.m.

Officers arrived and found a 54-year-old man who had been shot. Medics took him to a hospital in critical condition, but he died from his injuries shortly after arriving to the hospital.

The Marion County Coroner's Office will identify the victim once his family has been notified.

IMPD has not released information on a possible suspect or motive at this time.

Southeast side shooting

Police responded to a report of a person shot in the 4300 block of East Southport Road, near Gray Road, around noon.

Officers arrived and found a person who had been shot. According to IMPD, the victim's condition is said to be stable.

Near northwest side shooting

Police responded to a report of a person shot near West 19th Street and Lafayette Road around 6:30 a.m.

Officers arrived and found a person who had been shot. According to IMPD, the victim is in critical condition.
