IMPD: Man in critical condition after shooting on Indy's near west side

The shooting was reported Sunday evening in the 1600 block of West Vermont Street, near North White River Parkway Drive West.

INDIANAPOLIS — A man was critically injured in a shooting on Indy's near west side Sunday evening.

Around 8 p.m. on July 21, IMPD officers responded to the 1600 block of West Vermont Street, near North White River Parkway Drive West, on a report of a person shot. 

Responding officers found a man who had been shot. He was taken to a local hospital in critical condition, police said.

Detectives say another man, who they believe is the suspect, cut his arm crawling through a window. He was taken to the hospital and is in custody.

IMPD says there's no ongoing threat to the community in connection with the incident.
