IMPD officer injured in downtown hit-and-run crash

The crash happened Sunday shortly before 8:15 p.m. near the intersection of East Michigan and North East streets.

INDIANAPOLIS — An IMPD officer is out of the hospital after being injured in a downtown hit-and-run crash Sunday night.

According to IMPD, an officer was going westbound on East Michigan Street when a car going southbound on North East Street hit the officer's car around 8:15 p.m. Jan. 14.

Police said the driver who hit the officer's car left the scene after the crash and has not yet been located.

Medics transported the officer to a hospital in "good condition," according to IMPD. The officer has since been treated and released.

Police believe lights were out at the intersection prior to the crash.
