IMPD officer seriously injured in southwest side crash 'responding to treatment'

The crash happened Sunday afternoon at the intersection of Mooresville Road and Kentucky Avenue.

INDIANAPOLIS — Two Indianapolis Metropolitan Police officers were involved in a serious car crash on the southwest side of Indianapolis Sunday afternoon.

According to IMPD, around 1 p.m. on Feb. 18, an officer stopped to get furniture out of a roadway after it fell off a truck near the intersection of Kentucky Avenue and Mooresville Road. The officer turned on their lights and stopped their patrol car in the road.

While the officer was removing the furniture from the roadway, a second officer was traveling northbound on Kentucky Avenue when they struck another car, flipping their squad car over and making contact with the first officer's car. The second officer was trapped inside their flipped squad car.
