INDIANAPOLIS — IMPD announced the arrest of a suspect in connection with a shooting that injured one person on the south side of Indianapolis over the weekend.

Around 3:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, officers were called to Franciscan Health Indianapolis in the 8100 block of Emerson Avenue, near East Stop 11 Road, for a report of a walk-in person shot.

Officers found a gunshot victim, whose condition police described at the time as "stable."

Shortly before, officers responded to the 3500 block of Madison Avenue, near East Sumner Avenue, for a report of a person injured. Officers found a crime scene connected to the person shot, the department said in a social media post.

Detectives used surveillance video and "various investigative techniques" to identify a 33-year-old man as the suspect.

On Monday, Oct. 14, detectives and a K-9 unit found the suspect in the 400 block of East Morris Street, near South East Street. The man was taken into custody "without incident" and faces preliminary charges of battery with injury, criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon, intimidation with a deadly weapon and possession of a firearm by a dangerous individual.

(NOTE: 13News does not name suspects in cases until formal charges are filed by prosecutors.)

The Marion County Prosecutor's Office will make final charging decisions in the case.
