Homicide investigation underway into deadly shooting of juvenile in Castleton

Police said at first, they thought it was a self-inflicted gunshot wound, but now, they are investigating the incident as a homicide.

INDIANAPOLIS — A juvenile has been pronounced dead after a shooting in Castleton in September. 

IMPD officers were dispatched to the 7500 block of Ivywood Circle, near East 75th Street and Binford Boulevard, on a report of a person shot around 7:45 p.m. Sept. 19

When officers arrived, they found a juvenile victim inside a home with gunshot wounds. Medics arrived and took the victim to a local hospital, where his condition was initially described as "stable." He was later pronounced dead. 

Police said at first, they thought it was a self-inflicted gunshot wound; however, upon further investigation, they discovered that it wasn't. They are now investigating the incident as a homicide.

IMPD said they have spoken with a person of interest and are working with the Marion County Prosecutor's Office to determine if charges will be filed.
