INDIANAPOLIS — IMPD announced the arrest of a juvenile in connection with an armed robbery on Indianapolis' near north side over the weekend.
The incident was reported around 12:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 30 in the 3000 block of North Illinois Street, near West 30th Street. Officers responding for a report of an armed carjacking were told by a victim that three masked subjects approached, pointed a gun at him, and told him to "give me the keys," IMPD said in a social media post.
The three suspects took off westbound from the area in the victim's silver Dodge Journey.
Around 15 minutes later, an officer saw the car near the intersection of North Sherman Drive and East 30th Street. The driver then led officers on a police chase before it crashed "a short time later" in the 3800 block of Harvest Avenue, near 38th Street and North Franklin Road.
Three people ran from the car. One was quickly taken into custody, while the other two were not found, IMPD said.
The juvenile male taken into custody was arrested on preliminary charges of felony armed carjacking, felony auto theft, misdemeanor resisting law enforcement and misdemeanor refusal to identify.
The Marion County Prosecutor's Office will make final charging decisions in the case.
IMPD robbery detectives are asking for anyone with information on the other two suspects to contact Det. Todd Lappin at Todd.Lappin2@indy.gov or call Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at 317-262-8477. You can report anonymously. If you give information that leads to an arrest, you could get a reward of up to $1,000.
