INDIANAPOLIS — Beech Grove police have arrested a teenager for his alleged role in a shooting that killed an 18-year-old woman on the southeast side of Indianapolis Sunday night.
Just after 9 p.m. Sept. 29, officers responded to the 5900 block of Riva Ridge Drive, near South Arlington Avenue and Interstate 465, on a report of a person shot.
When officers arrived, they found an 18-year-old woman who had been shot and reported in critical condition. She later died in a local hospital.
Monday morning, the Marion County Coroner's Office identified her as Makayla Sue Bauman.

According to Beech Grove police, the shooting occurred in the 5400 block of Sagebrush Avenue, then the victim was taken to the Riva Ridge Drive location. Beech Grove will handle the investigation, with assistance from IMPD.
Around 12:45 p.m. Monday, detectives with the Beech Grove Police Department arrested a 15-year-old male for his alleged involvement in Bauman's shooting. The juvenile is being preliminarily charged with murder.
13News spoke to Bauman's father, who did not want to appear on camera. He said the family is heartbroken and doesn't know what led to the shooting or why she was at the apartment complex when it happened.
The father also told 13News that Bauman's 15-year-old brother was there when his sister was shot.
