51-year-old woman arrested for alleged role in north Indianapolis shooting

INDIANAPOLIS — IMPD is crediting tips from the public after a woman was arrested for her alleged role in a north Indianapolis shooting over the weekend.

The shooting was reported around 8:30 p.m. Sunday, April 14, in the 2800 block of Anna Lane, near East 46th Street and Binford Boulevard.

According to an IMPD spokesperson, responding officers found one person with a gunshot wound(s) who was "stable" when taken to a local hospital.

Aggravated assault detectives began an investigation. On Tuesday, April 16, IMPD announced a 51-year-old woman was arrested on a preliminary charge of battery with a deadly weapon after being located near where the shooting occurred.

"IMPD appreciates information provided by members of the community who stepped up to provide details about the crime and about the suspect’s location," a department spokesperson said in a statement. "Multiple community members called 911 and reached out to detectives in the days following the incident which resulted in today’s arrest."

The incident was the second shooting in the area of the Indiana State Fairgrounds in two days. On April 13, a delivery driver was shot and killed just a few blocks west in the 500 block of East 42nd Street.
