Man critical, dog killed in shooting near 38th and Meridian streets

The incident happened around 8:30 p.m. Friday in the 3700 block of Salem Street, which is near 38th and Meridian streets.

INDIANAPOLIS — Indianapolis Metropolitan Police officers are investigating a shooting on the city's north side Friday evening that left one man in critical condition and killed a family dog. 

According to IMPD, around 8:30 p.m. on May 31, officers responded to the 3700 block of Salem Street, which is near 38th and Meridian streets, on a report of a person shot.

Officers arrived on the scene and found one man who had been shot. Police said a family dog was nearby and was shot and killed in the incident. The man was transported to an area hospital in critical condition. Police said they found shell casings on the street, but do not have a suspect or person of interest.
