35-year-old man dead after shooting on Indy's near west side

The shooting happened around 3:30 p.m. Sept. 7 near the intersection of Wilson Street and West 10th Street, near Indiana Avenue.

INDIANAPOLIS — IMPD is investigating after a deadly shooting that happened Saturday afternoon on the city's near west side.

According to a release from IMPD, around 3:25 p.m. Sept. 7, officers responded to the intersection of Wilson Street and West 10th Street, near Indiana Avenue, on a report of a person shot.

When officers arrived, they found a man inside a vehicle who had been shot. Medics arrived and took him to a hospital in critical condition.

The Marion County Coroner's Office confirmed the victim, 35-year-old Willie D. Williams, died from his injuries four days after the shooting.

IMPD confirmed none of the hospitals were put on lockdown due to the shooting. 

Police have not shared information at this time about a possible suspect or motive.
