INDIANAPOLIS — IMPD is investigating after a 60-year-old man was killed in a shooting on the city's northwest side Saturday night.
According to IMPD, shortly after 9 p.m. on March 23, officers were called to the 4800 block of Pebble Way, near West 62nd Street and Georgetown Road, on a report of shots fired.
IMPD Captain Don Weilhammer says while officers were on their way to the scene, they were notified that there was a possible person shot at the location.
When officers arrived, they could not find any victims until another caller informed officers that they were near the location of the shooting. A person nearby told officers which apartment they heard the shots come from.
A supervisor then gave officers permission to kick down the door of the apartment. Once officers broke down the door, they discovered a man with a gunshot wound. Medics pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
On March 25, the Marion County Coroner's Office identified the man as 60-year-old Troy Lee Burrage Sr.
While officers were on the scene, police said they heard more shots coming from northeast of the location. Police are unsure whether the shots fired were related to the shooting.
IMPD believes the shooting was targeted but are unsure of a possible motive.
One week after the shooting on March 31, IMPD announced it had arrested a 15-year-old for murder the day prior on March 30 without incident.
