IMPD investigating after person shot during west Indy robbery; thieves allegedly make off with over $10,000 in cash

The victim was reported to be in stable condition.

INDIANAPOLIS — One person was reportedly shot during a robbery on the west side of Indianapolis Saturday afternoon.

According to IMPD, around 2:30 p.m. Jan. 27, officers were called to the 5300 block of West Penway Street, near 38th Street and Moller Road, on a report of a person shot. 

Officers arrived and found one person with a gunshot wound. They were reported to be in stable condition. 

The release states that the shooting took place during a robbery. IMPD did not specify the details of the alleged robbery or release any possible suspect information.

According to a public police report from IMPD, four suspects were reported as being involved in the robbery. It also states the thieves stole a total of $10,700 from the victim. Officers reportedly found shell casings at the scene from at least two different types of guns. 

The police report also states one of the weapons used in the robbery was a rifle.
