Man killed in west Indianapolis shooting

The shooting was reported around 2:45 p.m. in the 1200 block of North Tibbs Avenue.

INDIANAPOLIS — A man has died following a shooting on the west side of Indianapolis Saturday afternoon. 

According to IMPD, around 2:45 p.m. on Oct. 5, officers responded to the 1200 block of North Tibbs Avenue on a report of  shots fired. When officers arrived, they found an adult male with a gunshot wound and upgraded the call to a person shot. 

Responding officers rendered the man medical aid, but when Indianapolis Emergency Medical Services arrived, the man was pronounced dead at the scene. 

IMPD is asking anyone who might have been in the area of West 12th Street and North Tibbs Avenue between 2:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Oct. 5 to come forward if they saw any cars speeding off or any suspicious people. 

Residents in the area can expect to see an increased police presence during the investigation.
