IMPD investigating fatal shooting on Indy's far east side

INDIANAPOLIS — One person has died after a shooting on the far east side of Indianapolis Thursday evening.

According to a release from IMPD, shortly after 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 31, officers responded to the 11500 block of Brook Crossing Lane, which is in a neighborhood near East 21st Street and North Cumberland Road, on a report of a person shot.

When officers arrived, they found a person in the street who had been shot. They were pronounced dead at the scene. 

Police said the person is "an older juvenile or a younger adult" but did not provide any other information about the victim.

A suspect hasn't been identified, nor has a motive been determined. 

Police are asking for witnesses to contact them. Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at 317-262-TIPS (8477).
