2 women shot on Indy's east side

The incident happened shortly after 8:15 p.m. Saturday, with the victims being found near the intersection of 10th and Rural streets.

INDIANAPOLIS — IMPD is investigating a double shooting that happened on the east side of Indianapolis Saturday evening. 

According to an IMPD spokesperson, around 8:15 p.m. June 22, officers responded to a report of a person shot at the intersection of East 10th and North Rural streets. When officers arrived, they found two women with gunshot wounds. 

Initially, IMPD reported one of the victims was in critical condition. IMPD Lt. Vincent Stewart said both victims' conditions have since been upgraded to stable.

Police said the shooting did not happen where the two victims were found and instead believe the shooting occurred somewhere near 10th Street and Sherman Drive.
