2 critically injured in shooting near Eskenazi Hospital in downtown Indianapolis

The incident happened around 2:15 p.m. Friday near the intersection of West 10th Street and St. Margaret's Drive.

INDIANAPOLIS — Two people were critically injured in a shooting near Eskenazi Hospital in downtown Indianapolis Friday afternoon. 

According to IMPD, around 2:15 p.m. on Oct. 18, officers responded to the intersection of West 10th Street and St. Margaret's Drive on a report of a personal injury accident. When officers arrived, they found two victims with gunshot wounds inside a crashed car.

Police initially said both victims were in serious condition, but later said their conditions are critical. 

According to an IMPD spokesperson, a preliminary investigation has led police to believe the shooting happened inside the vehicle and was an isolated incident. Police say a firearm was located at the scene.

The campuses of IU Indianapolis, Purdue Indianapolis and Eskenazi Hospital were not placed on lockdown.
