20-year-old man killed in shooting on Indy's near southwest side

The shooting was reported around 5 p.m. Thursday near West Morris and South Harding streets.

INDIANAPOLIS — IMPD is investigating after a man was killed in a shooting on Indianapolis' near southwest side Thursday evening.

The shooting was reported shortly after 5 p.m. July 18 in the 1800 block of West Morris Street, a few blocks west of South Harding Street.

Responding officers located a man who had been shot. He was taken in critical condition to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The Marion County Coroner's Office identified the deceased as 20-year-old Edgerrin James Michael Hoover.

"At this time, officers have not taken a suspect into custody, nor has anyone been detained regarding this case," an IMPD spokesperson said in a statement.

No additional information on the circumstances of the shooting has been shared by police.
