INDIANAPOLIS — IMPD is investigating after a young person was killed in a shooting on Indianapolis' northeast side Sunday evening.
Around 6:45 p.m. Dec. 3, officers responded to the 7900 block of Scarborough Boulevard South Drive South, near East 75th Street and Hague Road, for a report of a person shot.
They located a female victim with at least one gunshot wound nearby in the street in the 7300 block of Crest Lane. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
An IMPD spokesperson told 13News at the scene that it was believed the victim was 17 years old. The department later said in a statement that it had not been determined whether the victim was a minor or adult.
Monday morning, the Marion County Coroner's Office identified the victim as 18-year-old Ariel Marie Calhoun.
Police have not shared any additional information on the circumstances of the shooting.
