INDIANAPOLIS — IMPD is investigating a mass shooting on the city's south side Sunday evening.
According to IMPD, around 8:15 p.m. July 14, officers were called to the 3200 block of Teakwood Drive, near Carson and East Troy avenues, initially for a disturbance, but then on a report of a person shot. When officers arrived, they found five people with gunshot wounds.
IMPD said one of those victims is in critical condition, while the other four victims are in serious condition. IMPD initially said four victims were male and one female, but later corrected their statement to say that the shooting injured three adult women, one adult male and one boy.
Police said a man is in critical condition.
IMPD identified the victims as a 17-year-old boy, 27-year-old woman, 33-year-old man, 33-year-old woman and 51-year-old woman.
According to police, the shooting reportedly stemmed from what police are calling a "basketball court disturbance."
Police said they detained one person in connection to the shooting, but police released that person upon further investigation.
