25-year-old man killed following shooting on Indy's east side

Officers were called to Community Hospital East Saturday morning when a person appeared there for treatment of "injuries consistent with a gunshot wound(s)."

INDIANAPOLIS — IMPD is investigating after a 25-year-old man died early Saturday in an apparent shooting.

A police spokesperson said officers were called to Community Hospital East, 1500 N. Ritter Ave., Jan. 13 when a person appeared there for treatment of "injuries consistent with a gunshot wound(s)."

The victim was pronounced dead at the hospital.

On Tuesday, the Marion County Coroner's Office identified the victim as 25-year-old Kason Dixon.

Investigators believe the shooting happened near East 21st Street and North Shadeland Avenue.

Police have not shared information about a possible suspect or motive at this time.

The Marion County Coroner's Office is working to determine Kason's exact manner and cause of death.
