INDIANAPOLIS — An Indianapolis man was arrested after allegedly robbing three people at gunpoint Saturday afternoon.
On Saturday, Nov. 16, just before 4 p.m., IMPD officers responded to the 3000 block of Central Avenue, near East 30th Street on Indianapolis' near north side, to investigate a robbery.
When officers arrived, they said they spoke to three victims who told officers they were robbed at gunpoint before police arrived.
According to court documents, the victims were working outside of a home placing siding when a man, later identified as 25-year-old Joe Eddie Ross III, approached them and asked them for a job.
Documents say the victims told Ross they didn't have any openings, but Ross stayed and started to look around the worksite. The victims told Ross he needed to leave, but he allegedly refused to leave.
Documents say Ross then pulled out a gun, pointed it at the victims and demanded money. Police said Ross then stole each of the victims' wallets and ran off.
A witness told police that Ross ran into a nearby home, so officers set a perimeter nearby until Ross came out.
Ross started to comply with police, but then he allegedly ran from officers and reached into his waistband, tossing an item while continuing to run.
IMPD, with help from an IMPD K-9, were able to eventually apprehend Ross and took him into custody.
Officers said they canvassed the area where the item was tossed and found a black gun with an extended magazine. Ross wasn't legally allowed to be in possession of a gun.
IMPD robbery detectives were called to the scene to speak with the victims and collect evidence. Police said Ross was arrested the same day.
Ross was charged with three counts of armed robbery, one count of unlawful carrying of a gun and one count of resisting law enforcement.
