IMPD: Girl killed in near east Indianapolis stabbing

INDIANAPOLIS — IMPD is investigating after a girl was fatally stabbed on Indianapolis' near east side Monday morning.

The incident was reported around 9:15 a.m. Dec. 16 in the 400 block of North Randolph Street, near East Michigan Street. That's just a few blocks southeast of Arsenal Tech High School.

An IMPD spokesperson said responding officers found a female stabbing victim, believed to be a juvenile, outside a home. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The spokesperson said detectives were canvassing the area and looking for surveillance footage Monday morning. The spokesperson said police were not releasing a description of a possible suspect at this time, and detectives believe the stabbing was an "isolated incident" with "no ongoing community threat."

The Marion County Coroner's Office will identify the victim once family has been notified.

The spokesperson said the homicide is the department's 201st in 2024.
