INDIANAPOLIS — A 55-year-old man is now in custody for his alleged role in the robberies of two north Indianapolis businesses.
On Friday, May 17, IMPD officers responded to reports of two separate robberies within 30 minutes of each other, one at Dollar Tree on North Keystone Avenue and the other at Big Lots on Allisonville Road.
According to IMPD, the suspect, identified as Alonzo Sansbury of Indianapolis, had attempted to pay with a fake $100 bill and then stole money from the first location. Then, he pulled out a handgun and stole money and Funyuns from Big Lots.
In both of the robberies, IMPD reviewed surveillance footage and got a good description of Sansbury and his vehicle.
Officers utilized automatic license plate reading technology to track Sansbury to a gas station.
While executing a search warrant of Sansbury's car, officers found the clothes he was wearing during the robberies and the bag of Funyuns he had stolen.
He was arrested shortly after officers found the Funyuns. A judge set Sansbury's bond at $80,000. His initial court hearing is scheduled for May 21.
Anyone with additional information on these incidents is asked to call Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at 317-262-8477.
